Nave, Dave, & Chris

Nave, Dave, & Chris

Before I take off on this adventure, I want to say thank you to three guys who helped me get this site up and running!

I’ve had journals or blogs in the past, but I knew I wanted something new for this experience — particularly, my own domain. The only problem was knowing where to get started. For someone who hasn’t used computers for more than work needs for years, I found myself way behind the pack. Thankfully I have friends who are both savvy and kind enough to help a girl out 🙂

Evan, aka “Nave”
St. Stephen's Green on St. Pat's Day

As I was registering the domain, Nave offered some tips on things I may way to add on and/or look out for. He also read a first draft of the About Me section and has answered more questions than I can think of :-). He’s one of my best friends and nothing short of a rock star.

Dave
St. Stephen's Green on St. Pat's Day

Dave was a tremendous help when it came to helping me sort out WordPress and self-host the site. Above all, he has been the plugin MASTER, as I failed to figure out how to get most of the recommended ones running correctly O:-). He definitely gets a patience award for that one.

Check out Dave’s iPhone app, SumSushi.

And last but not least, Chris of The Aussie Nomad offered some help on the theme as I was getting started. As Chris uses the exact same one and has an IT background, I figured he’d know a thing or two ;-). Chris is a fellow career breaker who just left Australia a couple of weeks ago to begin his European adventure. Hopefully he’ll meet Dave and the other Londoners soon!

I appreciate your help, guys!

I struggled so much to get mine started. At first I was like ‘what is html?’ Through lots and lots of trial and error situations as well as posting to forums when I majorly screwed up, I’ve managed to get by. But yes, you are very lucky to have IT friends 🙂 And Chris just might regret you mentioning him in this post, because now I’ll have to bug him when I need help!

I *love* your site and have from the moment I first saw it. Hopefully I told you that too 🙂 And I’m sure Chris wouldn’t mind lending another helping hand 😉
