About

Hi, I’m Heather, a 30-something American who loves telling stories, whether they’re about travel, good food, living a healthy lifestyle, or career development. Luckily for me, the last few years have provided plenty of big experiences and big stories.

In 2010 I left a full-time job with benefits to move to Australia on the Work and Holiday Visa. When I wasn’t road tripping around the country, I was living and working in Sydney. I followed a passion for healthy food by working for a local organic market. I satisfied a wicked sweet tooth by indulging in Australia’s cafe culture and consuming copious amounts of macarons.

In 2011 I returned to the USA. In one summer I weathered the storm of reverse culture shock, found a way to pay the bills through multiple sources of income, and met the man I was going to marry while visiting friends in London.

In 2012, Gav and I successfully navigated an 8-month K1 fiance visa process and became Mr. and Mrs. on a gorgeous fall day.

Now, I’m a newlywed living in Virginia who works as a career counselor by day, turns Pinterest recipe boards into reality by night, and imagines a future in which I do four things I love (help people achieve their career goals, develop content for websites, travel domestically and internationally, and learn about food).

If you have questions about living, working, traveling, or eating in Australia; advertising or media opportunities; the K1 visa process; or just want to say hi, send me an email through the Contact page and find me on social media.
