I have been a huge fan of Bootsnall.com for years. When planning the first trip to Australia in 2006, the forums were my best friend. Whenever I look into hostels in a new location, I start with the BnA searchable database. I subscribe to several of their e-newsletters, follow them on Twitter, and love to browse the Adventure Trips section.
A few weeks ago on Twitter, BnA posted a link to this gem-of-an-article: Why It’s Not Crazy for Working Professionals to Quit Their Jobs and Travel the World. It refers to a “10-point plan” in American culture and why career breaks/adult gap-years are so uncommon — and why we should consider breaking the norm. It reminded me that while I regularly read about others embarking on RTW, long-term, and adventure trips, our choice to do so is still very rare. Making a decision like this is actually pretty bold. Exciting. And definitely terrifying.
It was *just* the thing I needed to read that morning. A reminder to take a deep breath and let go of some of the anxiety that had slowly started to build over the last couple of months. I even sent BnA a direct message via Twitter to thank them for the article, to which they replied, “Glad you liked it, mate, & congrats on taking off! Hopefully we can help calm the nerves :)”
The nerves are still alive and kickin’, but BnA definitely came to my rescue again.
YA! you are not crazy….. just miss understood! i know how its is!
OH and love the blog!
The crazy ones are those that think travel is not worth the hassle. Go for it full force. 🙂
We the travelers are the sane and balanced ones.
