Heather’s Holiday Hiatus

Heather’s Holiday Hiatus

Christmas is less than one week away. It’s THIS weekend. No matter how many times I listen to Elvis’ Christmas album on the iPod or look at the cards and packages I’ve received in the last few days, it just doesn’t feel like the holidays.

— American for “holiday”: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valentine’s Day, 4th of July, etc.
— American for “the holidays”: Christmas and New Years (and even the period from Thanksgiving through New Years)
— Much of the rest of the world and “holiday”: vacation

With “the holidays” approaching, I have decided to take a “holiday” from blogging, and perhaps Twitter, to focus on friends, family, and festivities.

Sad that you’ll miss a Christmas post from me?! Never fear! My new friend Chris from Aussieontheroad.com invited me to share a guest post on his site about my first Christmas away from home. Check it out — Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas 🙂

Haven’t seen my updated bucket list? What are you waiting for?!

To my family and friends at home — I love and miss you! ♥
To my amazing group of friends in London — you’re always in my thoughts, especially on NYE after spending two of them with you! Can’t wait to see you again.
To my fellow travelers — enjoy the holidays wherever in the world you may be and I hope to catch up on your blogs & adventures soon!
And to my new friends in Oz — thank you for being part of this beautiful adventure.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year (and other holidays you may be celebrating!), and I’ll see you in 2011!

Still not sure how you’ll cope without me over the next few weeks? Bless. Why not catch up on some guest post reading?

I’m totally with you on this! I’m going to be posting some things that I wrote but never published. Looking forward to a break since I actually haven’t had once since I got home. Just got back from DC today as a matter of fact 🙂 As to your bucket list- you can pencil me in for hiking part of the AT with you and running a 5k and also Africa. Seriously!! Also, I owe you an email. Check for it tomorrow 🙂

A well-deserved break, my friend! Hope you have a very Merry Christmas (even if it is green instead of white!) & a New Year filled with many more adventures & blessings. 🙂

We will miss you, but I don’t blame you for taking a break from the internets. It gets exhausting after a while!

I’ll be here waiting when you come back from your hiatus 🙂

Happy holidays and all that jazz!

  6. Sounds a bit like me over the past three months. Sometimes it all just gets a bit much and you need to take a break to focus on whatever is filling your life at that particular time. Merry Christmas! Hope it’s a good one!

  7. Jaime says:

Im glad you are taking a break from all this and enjoying yourself. Especially around this time when one can easily feel lonely it looks like you will be having a jolly good time.

MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Love the tongue twisting title! 🙂 HAPPY HOLIDAYS! 🙂

  9. Dina says:

Yeah, it was difficult to feel Christmas-y for Ryan (that is so used to with snowy Christmas) when we were still in Australia. Beach Christmas party?
The previous 2 years, we didn’t have snowy Christmas, so we (especially Ryan) are thrilled to have Christmas here back in Canada with his family.

  10. I’m playing catch-up with all of my blogs — hope your festivities have been going well and your travel plans are coming together!

One of the big events that drew you to Sydney is coming up tomorrow night. Sydney Harbour and the fireworks. Have fun!

    Happy new year, mate.
